Essential Oils Basic Set

The Ten Essential Oils of the Build Your Own Basic Care Set

Basic Care Kit Set of Essential Oils

My Basic Care Set. I have several more essential oils besides what is in this basic set, but wanted to show you my set and the different brands out there.

These are the ten basic essential oils I recommend, as covered in The Complete Book of Essential Oils and Aromatherapy, which I highly recommend.

Each essential oil has different properties, and therefore different functions so you can add to this basic set, or eliminate what you feel you do not need.

I will give a brief rundown of each essential oil, but they can do so much more.  They can be used in cleaning your home, aromatherapy, and also on your body – however, you MUST use a good carrier oil and mix proportions correctly.

  • I use a lot of Now Brand Essential Oils as shown here, because they are larger bottles and I have had no trouble with them leaking and they WORK!

The Basic Care Set Consists of: (some are hard to find)

In some instances you may have to purchase different brands due to looking for a specific oil and not all companies produce all possible essential oils.  Don’t be afraid to try different companies for yourself, regardless of hear-say.

Read on to learn what each one does, individually, to learn what ones you would like if you are not ready to purchase every one listed.

One of my favorite essential oils is also one of my favorite plants – Rosemary!  Over the years no matter where I live, I have a rosemary plant or two.  In Texas, they can grow really large if not continuously trimmed and groomed.  Besides eating them, they also have many uses, and especially when the plant blooms; those little blossoms are not only pretty but edible!

Okay, yes, I will get onto the properties of Rosemary Essential Oil!

Aura Cacia - Essential Oil, Geranium, 0.5 ozAura Cacia – Essential Oil, Geranium, 0.5 oz

Geranium Essential Oil is one of the very first essential oils I purchased and I  am not even sure why I got it, but so glad I did.

It is one of my favorites to use in my cold air mist diffuser. It always makes me feel so happy and light, no wonder that Valerie Ann Worwood, (the author of the book I keep mentioning!), first words I read about Geranium, in her book was that it is “deceptively charming”.

 Geranium Essential Oil Uses:

  • Antibacterial
  • Analgesic; painkiller
  • Circulatory
  • Frostbite
  • Hormone Balancer
  • Body & Skin Care
  • Makes the house smell good!

cold mist diffuser

I did a lot of research to find the Right Kind of Diffuser for my house and some of it’s larger rooms. Many diffusers are only suitable for much smaller bedrooms. This cool mist diffuser doesn’t leak on furniture like the heated diffusers. This particular diffuser also has auto shut off; meaning when it runs out of water it turns it self off. This eliminates problems other diffusers have and then they overheat and burn themselves out. It also helps that it’s pretty and has different colored lights to choose from or run them all in succession Or No Lights At All!

The reason to look for Thyme Linalol, or Linalool is that it is versatile and better to use on skin than other types of Thyme.

He would come home, go for the bottle and put it right under his nose. I still have that bottle, I am sure its effectiveness has declined a tad, but I‘d rather him sniff that old one than my new bottle!!

NOW Eucalyptus Essential Oil, 4-OunceNOW Eucalyptus Essential Oil, 4-Ounce

Eucalyptus became a staple at my home this winter. Several years ago I caught the flu that lead into pneumonia that would not go away. At any rate, I do whatever I can to stay healthy and never again get pneumonia again.

I used Eucalyptus Essential Oil in my diffuser over and over again this winter with different mixes to prevent me taking a possible cold into something worse. It seems to clear my sinus and chest very well.

Mix it with Thyme Linalool (germ fighter!) and Lemon or Peppermint and you have a healthy household warding off infection and illness… and you have nice smelling blend too!
